The Unified Baseplate (Canon C500mkII, C200, C200B, C700) is a quick-release baseplate that provides a 15mm LW rod support at the correct lens height. 15mm LW rods run from front to back and have two lockable thumb screws per side. The quick release levers on the baseplate allow the user to take the 15mm LW rods with them or leave them behind when removing the camera.
To remove the camera and leave the 15mm LW rods behind, loosen the right thumb screw, slide the camera back a bit, and lift it straight up. The dovetail on the bottom of the camera is an ARCA Swiss standard shape that integrates with many third-party products. Additionally, there are 1/4-20 threaded holes on the bottom that can be used to mount gimbals or tripod plates if needed. On the side, there are 1/4-20 holes and a standard ARRI mount (3/8-16 threaded hole with locking pin). Also on this top dovetail is a vertical 15mm rod opening, allowing a lens adapter foot to be supported directly in front of the camera body.
The bottom of the baseplate features the lower quick-release dovetail with 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded holes for mounting to tripod plates or ARRI standard bridgeplates like the Unified Bridgeplate (19mm) or Unified Bridgeplate (15mm Studio). To remove the camera from the included lower quick release dovetail and take the lightweight 15mm rods with you, loosen the left thumb screw, slide the baseplate back a bit, and lift it off. This action exposes an integrated ARRI dovetail slot on the bottom, which can directly attach to any dovetails, safety dovetails, or shoulder pads.
For VCT-14 compatible mounting options, the Unified Baseplate can be attached to the Unified VCT Wedge Plate to provide a simple counterbalance on the shoulder. This can then be attached to the Unified VCT-14 Tripod Plate, which is mounted to the tripod head.
