Ikan’s professional teleprompter series is quick and easy to set up. It includes three different camera mounts, making it compatible with a wide variety of cameras—including professional ENG cameras, cinema cameras, mirrorless cameras, and camcorders. The entire teleprompter set can be easily balanced along a rail without the need for counterweights.
The lightweight aluminum teleprompter features a 65/35 reflection glass that optimizes visibility of the display. Multiple 1/4-20-inch and 3/8-16-inch threads allow for mounting on a tripod or stand. The very bright monitor offers SDI, HDMI, and VGA video inputs. Its display can be flipped at the touch of a button. The teleprompter cover for the PT421W-TM-TK has a significantly wider opening, allowing even some of the largest lenses available on the market to be used.
The teleprompter’s cover is secured to the frame with screws and further stabilized with magnets. The three-millimeter-thick reflective glass is coated to reflect 65 percent of the light projected onto it and transmit 35 percent. This makes it possible to read the reflected script text easily, while at the same time allowing the camera positioned behind the glass to film without capturing the reflected text. The anti-reflective (AR) coating on the back also prevents ghosting. The presenter reads from the teleprompter screen without losing direct eye contact with the camera and the audience.
The set includes a 21-inch SDI talent monitor with an integrated tally light. This widescreen monitor features SDI, HDMI, and VGA inputs. The native resolution is 1920 x 1080, and the maximum brightness is 1000 nits. The OSD settings menu allows you to control contrast, brightness, backlight, hue, saturation, and sharpness. The intensity of each RGB color channel is also adjustable. The aspect ratio can be set to 16:9, 4:3, or “full screen”; alternatively, the device can automatically detect the aspect ratio and adjust accordingly. With the press of a button, the monitor image can be mirrored both horizontally and vertically—ideal for video conferences when the speaker wants to see themselves as if in a mirror.
With up to 1,000 nits, the monitor is perfect for brightly lit environments, such as outdoors. The rugged aluminum housing protects it from damage during production. Buttons on the bezel make it easy to navigate menu functions and switch input sources.
The monitor’s built-in tally light emits red, green, or yellow light. Yellow is typically used to signal to the entire team that the camera is about to go live. Green usually indicates that a camera is in preview mode. A red tally light marks the camera that is currently on air.
The rolling case can hold the complete teleprompter set, including the teleprompter base, risers, covers, glass, monitors, and power supplies. The waterproof case is made of high-strength polypropylene copolymer resin. It is designed to withstand corrosion and impact damage.
