Laowa's Proteus Cine lens series has grown: new 20mm T2 2x Anamorphic S35 opens up numerous cinematic possibilities with a focal length of only 20 mm. In addition, this lens offers exceptional sharpness, minimal focus breathing, and a constant 2x compression factor.
Thanks to the enormous focal length of Proteus 20mm T2, you can capture both a subject in impressive close-up and its surroundings at the same time. The lens is ideal for dynamic camera movements, conveys impressive spatial depth, and creates an exciting sense of speed - all in a single image. The Proteus 20 mm T2 effortlessly captures expansive scenes, even in confined spaces where it is impossible to step back.
Like all other lenses of the professional Proteus Cine series, 20 mm T2 2x Anamorphic S35 impresses with its patented anamorphic design. Camera professionals appreciate the smooth, oval bokeh and characteristic flares of all Laowa lenses. The constant 2x compression factor guarantees the ultra-wide image format, the standard in the cinema industry.
Image data stored on a 4:3 sensor is converted to cinema images with an aspect ratio of 2.66:1 after decramping; data from a 6:5 sensor enables a cinema image format of 2.4:1. Both variants ensure cropping to the ideal aspect ratio of 2.39:1. Laowa Proteus lenses support the S35+ sensor format. They cover the Alexa 35 sensor at a ratio of 2.39:1 and the Red V-Raptor 7K sensor at a ratio of 6:5 ANA.
The large T2 aperture facilitates filming in low light and at night. The open aperture already delivers images with excellent sharpness and clearly separates objects from their background. These lenses achieve optimal image quality at an aperture of T4.
The minimum focus distance of this Proteus lens from Laowa is only 48 cm. Thanks to the double compression factor, the bokeh is significantly thinner and longer - a typical feature of anamorphic lenses.
Laowa offers three flare color options for the Proteus series: blue, amber, or silver.
